About Us
You are warmly welcome to the Church of Christ in Egbeda. The Church of Christ is not a denomination. Rather, we are a body of baptized believers who reject human doctrines, creeds, and affiliations, seeking to follow only the teachings of the New Testament. We believe that Christ is the owner and head of the church (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 1:22–23), and that it is the Lord Himself who calls and adds members to His church (Acts 2:47).Our Mission & Vision
At the Church of Christ in Egbeda,
Our mission is centered on faithfully carrying out God’s purpose for His church as revealed in the New Testament. We are committed to living out the love of Christ through service, growth, and outreach, striving to impact both our immediate community and the world at large.
Guided by Scripture, our mission focuses on three core pillars: evangelism, edification, and benevolence—each reflecting our dedication to spreading the gospel, strengthening believers, and showing compassion to those in need.
Mission & Purpose
Evangelism:
We are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with all people, calling them to faith, repentance, and obedience to the gospel. Through teaching, outreach, and personal witness, we seek to lead others to become faithful followers of Christ according to New Testament teachings (Matthew 28:19–20; Mark 16:15–16).
Edification:
We focus on nurturing spiritual growth among members by sound teaching, encouragement, and fellowship. Through Bible study, worship, and mutual support, we aim to strengthen believers in faith, helping each person grow into maturity in Christ (Ephesians 4:11–12).
Benevolence:
We show the love of Christ through acts of kindness and generosity, caring for those in need, especially within the body of believers. By providing support—spiritually, emotionally, and materially—we strive to uplift lives and reflect God’s compassion (Galatians 6:10).
Our Beliefs
Our beliefs are firmly rooted in the Word of God, which we uphold as the only true and final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We are committed to following the pattern of New Testament Christianity in its purity and simplicity, without reliance on human traditions or doctrines.
With a focus on salvation, the nature of the church, and biblical leadership, we strive to align every aspect of our faith and practice with the teachings of Scripture.
The Bible as the only Authority
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the complete guide for faith and practice. It is sufficient for teaching, correction, and instruction in righteousness, and we do not add to or take away from its message through human creeds, councils, or traditions (2 Timothy 3:16–17; Revelation 22:18–19).
Salvation
We believe salvation follows the clear pattern revealed in the New Testament. A person must:
- Hear the gospel (Romans 10:17)
- Believe in Jesus (John 20:31, Acts 16:31, Hebrews 11:16).
- Repent of sins (Acts 2:38, Acts 17:30)
- Confess faith (Romans 10:10)
- Be baptised by immersion (Acts 2:38, 22:16)
The Church
We believe the church is not a human denomination but the spiritual body of Christ, with Jesus as the head. It is made up of all who are saved and called by God, united in one faith without division (Ephesians 1:22–23; Colossians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 1:10–13). Each congregation functions independently, following the New Testament example without any central earthly authority (Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5).
